1. Knowing the exam pattern

Rather make this a key rule for every entrance exam. You must be well aware of the syllabus and the examination pattern of that test. There are three main stages in the RRB railway exam which are first stage CBT, Second Stage CBT; computer based Aptitude test followed by document verification.

This test has negative marking scheme followed. 1/3 rd of a mark will be deducted if the answer is wrong. So make sure, that in case of a dicey situation better leave the question.

2. Know your syllabus

After learning the exam pattern, now it’s time to know your syllabus and gather the resources. Basically, the first stage is very difficult to crack, as you will be competing with nationwide aspirants. Give your full to crack the exam. The subjects covering in stage 1 are mathematics, general English, general science and some general awareness related with current affairs.

For mathematics part, all the formulas should be on your tips.  Secondly, you can download or buy a RRB railways preparation book which will help you in your preparation and will also guide you about the short tricks and tips. Short tricks are usually very helpful as they save a lot of time.

Also, you can study NCERT maths books for classes 6 to 10 to build and refresh the concepts. If you are not sure about the answer, take help from the solution books. These solution books are easily available over internet for free download. And no need to ask your neighbor’s kid to lend him his NCERT book. 4. Prepare your own handwritten Notes

Many students are in a habit of studying material by doing Xerox from their friend’s notes. Guys, every student has its own style of studying. Maybe your friend knows everything and has just written the answer and not the approach followed. You must know that how the answer has been derived. Try to make your own notes. This certainly helps in a top class preparation.

5. Avoid negative marking

Do you know, you one wrong answer can drag your rank from hundreds to thousands. So, better leave the answer rather than attempting by guess work. Don’t take negative marking too lightly. It can seriously make or break your rank.

For the stage 1, you have to solve 75 questions in 60 minutes which means less than a minute time for attempting one question. You need to work over your speed as well. Speed and accuracy are the two keys which will unlock the lock of RRB.

Even the second stage gives a much lesser time. Here you need to solve 100 questions in 90 minutes.

6. Give Mock tests

The best way to preparation is the time management which can only be followed by giving mocks. There are many websites available over internet which offers unique mock test every day. So, give at least 1 mock test every day. If you are not going for any coaching and doing self studying, the online study material is best suited for you.  Also, start solving previous years question papers as it will help you to give a gist of how exactly the paper is designed.

7. Time management

Manage your time well. In the last few days of exam, focus only on revisions and not on learning new things. Make a timetable and follow that strictly. In your initial phase, better understand your weaker areas and start working on them early.  In your examination, attempt your stronger areas. Work over the unsure ones in the end.  Don’t be in a hurry, solve naturally.
