The PokerGO Cup continues this week and Event #7 is the latest to finish up. the $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em event saw 35 players enter, with GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu able to secure the win. The final table had five players and Negreanu was able to build up a substantial chip stack to earn the first-place finish. For his efforts, Negreanu earned the title and $700,000 in prize money.

Details of the Event

Negreanu would have to outlast an impressive field to earn the first-place finish. Ali Imsirovic has been on a roll during the PokerGO Cup, having won two early events and reaching the final table of this event, with the chip lead. However, this time around, Imsirovic would lose the lead quickly and go home in fifth place. While he was out early, Imsirovic would add over $122,000 to his earnings from the Cup.

Negreanu knocked out Imsirovic with pocket aces and then eliminate Sergi Reixach in fourth with eights. The GGPoker ambassador would continue his hot streak by taking out Alex Foxen next. Foxen was in with A-J against Negreanu’s suited Q-7. A seven on the board gave Negreanu a pair and Foxen was unable to gain the cards to defeat him.

Heads-Up Round Begins

This would leave Negreanu and David Coleman in the heads-up round. Even though Negreanu was able to take out three players from the final table, Coleman still had a chip lead going into the heads-up round.

It wouldn’t take long for Negreanu to gain the chip lead and in the end, he would hold more than double in chips when compared to Coleman when the final hand would go down. On the last hand, Coleman would be in with fives with Negreanu calling holding K-10.

As the cards fell, it looked like Coleman was going to double up and start to make a comeback. However, a 10 on the river paired Negreanu and gave him the hand, plus the poker event win. Surprisingly, the win was the first one for Negreanu in eight years.

Final Table Results:

First Place: Daniel Negreanu $700,000

Second Place: David Coleman $455,000

Third Place: Alex Foxen $280,000

Fourth Place: Sergi Reixach $192,500

Fifth Place: Ali Imsirovic $122,500

The PokerGO series is almost finished up as all of the events have started. Results from Event #8 are still left to be decided. Overall, the series has been a success, as the best of the best turned out to compete in the major tournament events.
