LA Angels Sign Veteran Outfielder Adam Eaton after Released by White Sox

On Monday, July 12th, 2021 the Chicago White Sox made the decision to continue the remainder of the 2021 Major League Baseball season without their veteran left – handed outfielder, Adam Eaton, as the Southsiders of Chicago make their MLB postseason push as serious contenders for the first time in quite a while. Eaton was unconditionally released by the Chicago White Sox last Monday.

Second Stint with the Chicago White Sox

Eaton originally played for the Chicago White Sox from 2014 to 2016, before joining the Washington Nationals for the following four Major League Baseball seasons (2017 – 2020) as he was traded to Washington by the Chicago White Sox for Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez, and Dane Dunning. While playing in Washington D. C. he helped the Nationals win their first MLB World Series in franchise history back in 2019.

Last December during the MLB offseason the Chicago Whiter Sox signed Adam to a one – year deal worth approximately $7 million, and that contract included an $8.5 million club option for the 2022 Major League Baseball season as well. During Eaton’s second stint with the Chicago White Sox, he was batting .201 / .298 / .344 over the course of the 58 games that he played for the Sox. Adam hit 5 homers, 28 RBIs, and he scored 33 runs for the White Sox during his 2021 MLB campaign. On Wednesday, July 7th, 2021 the Chicago White Sox designated him for assignment before eventually releasing Eaton the following week.

The Los Angeles Angels Sign Adam Eaton

On Wednesday, July 14th, 2021 the Los Angeles Angels introduced their newest member in their clubhouse by announcing that they have signed the veteran outfielder known for his defense more than his presence at the plate to a major league deal. Over his slightly above average yet respectable 10 – year Major League Baseball career Eaton has an overall batting average of .278 to go along with his 65 career MLB home runs and 317 total RBIs.

Hopefully Adam can help the struggling Los Angeles Angels as they currently sit in 4th place in the American League West division of the MLB. They are 9 games out of first in the AL West at the moment as we are just over the half way point of the 2021 MLB regular season.
