Sovereign Gold Bonds 2021-22 will be issued in six tranches, said the Finance Ministry



Sovereign Gold Bond: The central government, in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today decided to issue the schedule for the Sovereign Gold Bonds Scheme 2021-22. The Sovereign Gold Bonds Scheme 2021-22 will be issued in six tranches, starting from May 2021 to September 2021. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, May 12, the subscription for the first tranche of Sovereign Gold Bonds Scheme 2021-22 will open on May 17, 2021, and will end on May 21, 2021, remaining open for investors for a period of five days.

The date of issuance for the first trance is May 25, 2021. As per the schedule, the second tranche will start on May 24 and will end on May 28, 2021. The third trance is between May 31, remaining open for subscription till June 4.

The fourth tranche will begin on July 12 and will end on July 16. The fifth tranche is between August 9 and August 13. Lastly, the sixth tranche is between August 30- September 3, 2021.

The gold bonds will be sold through the scheduled commercial banks, except for the small finance banks and payment banks, designated post offices, recognised stock exchanges such as Bombay Stock Exchange Limited and National Stock Exchange of India, and Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited.

According to the Reserve Bank of India, the gold bonds will be restricted for sale to the resident individuals, trusts, universities, hindu-undivided families (HUF), as well as charitable institutions. The gold bonds will be denominated in multiples of gram(s) of gold with a basic unit of one gram. The minimum permissible investment will be one gram of gold during the subscription window.
